Blennylips Micronesia 2010
Palau Day 01 & 02
Tue 09 & Wed 19 Nov 2010
Our first two days! For the first dive, I'm pressure testing the DMW-MCTZ10 housing without the camera; hence I've combined the two days into one "Chapter" as there is no video from the Turtle Cove dive. Dive sites: Turtle Cove, Blue Holes, Ulong Channel, Siaes Corner Download via BitTorrent |
Palau Day 03
Thu 11 Nov 2010
Out-of-Gas Cove is our name for the spot we waited for rescue after we ran out of gas. Coms was via cell phone--battery dead! no signal! What happened to our heros? (hint: it involves Betel Nut) Dive sites: German Channel, Blue Corner, Out-of-Gas Cove Download via BitTorrent |
Palau Day 04
Fri 12 Nov 2010
Spent the day way south around Peleliu. The Orange Beach dive was Rob's 100'th dive and Woody's 400'th dive. Congratulations to both! Dive sites: Yellow Wall, Peleliu Express, Orange Beach Download via BitTorrent |
Palau Day 05
Sat 13 Nov 2010
Today we head north, off the beaten path to dive at Devilfish City, a lesser dove Manta cleaning station. We come back to drop a few divers off at Sam's and then do a final dive at Lighthouse Channel. Dive sites: Devilfish City, West Ngeremlengui Channel, Lighthouse Channel Download via BitTorrent |
Palau Day 06
Sun 14 Nov 2010
A lot of fun today! Barnum's Wall was particularly beautiful. The lunch spot is where we filmed the "Survivor Palau - Hermit Crab Edition" YouTube video: Dive sites: German Channel, Virgin Blue Hole, Barnum's Wall Download via BitTorrent |
Palau Day 07
Mon 15 Nov 2010
We start with a typical Blue Corner dive: lots of current and schooling fish. Then we drop through the hole in the reef at Turtle Cove and out onto the great wall. Finally we drift through the spectacular corals at Ngerchong Inside where we see a group of courting Leaffish. Dive sites: Blue Corner, Turtle Cove, Ngerchong Inside Download via BitTorrent |
Palau Day 08
Tue 16 Nov 2010
Fabulous diving! From Jacque Cousteau's favorite Palau dive at Big Dropoff to drifting along the shear Dexster's Wall to the explosion of Pipefish at Wonder Channel...Wow! Dive sites: Big Dropoff, Dexter's Wall, Wonder Channel Download via BitTorrent |
Palau Day 09
Wed 17 Nov 2010
I took this day off from diving. In this video segment I gathered all of the 2 and 3 second clips I shot in both Palau and Yap. I did not edit or reject...just took evertying. This should give you a decent sample of the Lumix DMC-TZ10 camera and DMW-MCTZ10 housing performance under all sorts of conditions. Dive sites: Most of the others listed on this page Download via BitTorrent |
Palau Day 10
Thu 18 Nov 2010
A big day of diving! Fabulous dives plus, while motoring from site to site we see mating turtles, a pod of Dolphins and spend 15 minutes snorkeling with a bunch of Mantas.. Dive sites: German Channel (dive + Manta Snorkel), Blue Corner, Barnum's Wall Download via BitTorrent |
Palau Day 11
Fri 19 Nov 2010
Dive sites: Ulong Channel, Saies Tunnel, Ulong Wall, Sam's Pier Download via BitTorrent |
Palau Day 12
Sat 20 Nov 2010
Our last day in Palau before we fly to Yap...so, no diving. We spend the day with Blue Planet on a kayak and snorkel tour of some of the most amazing shade loving corals in the shallow lagoons and coves. Oh yes, and a kayak rodeo... Snorkel sites: Rembrant Cove, Lettuce Leaf Cove, Disney Lake, Lolita's Garden Download via BitTorrent |
Survivor Palau- Hermit Crab Edition!
On a deserted Palauan beach, one Hermit Crab will be left to claim it all...

Yap Day 01
Sun 21 Nov 2010
Our first day in Yap. Arriving at 4:00am after a short flight from Palau, we sleep til about noon and still get two dives in. Dive sites: Vertigo, Mil Channel Download via BitTorrent |
Yap Day 02
Mon 22 Nov 2010
Day 2 in Yap and the 14'th day of the trip. No Manta's at the cleaning station and Sunrise reef shows much damage from the typhoon four or five years pervious. Oh yes, and Cindy has a birthday! Dive sites: Mil Channel Cleaning Station, Sunrise Reef Download via BitTorrent |
Yap Day 03
Tue 23 Nov 2010
Long boat ride to the amazing south end. We dive the Yap Caverns; lots of deep canyon swim-throughs, georgeous shallow coral tops. Then, going a bit further up the west side, we dive Spanish Wall and Cory's Reef. The Caverns seem unchanged from our trip 12 years ago, the the latter two sites clearly show the damage of the two typhoons Mitag(2002) and Sudal(2004) []. What has not changed is the people of Yap...it remains our favorite island in the world! Dive sites: Yap Caverns, Spanish Wall, Cory's Reef Download via BitTorrent |
Yap Day 04
Wed 24 Nov 2010
What a day of diving contrasts! When we dove Sakura Terrace 12 years ago, it was the most astounding stand of hard coral we'd ever seen. Now, after typhoon Sudal(2004) that is all most all gone. A lot of the small scale features are still there, but some really huge coral heads got toppled. Sad. But the following dives, all along the channel from Sakura back to base were phenomenal muck dives! Just one wonder after another, and not all small stuff. Loved it and planned to return before the Yap stay is over. Dive sites: Sakura Terrace, Slow & Easy, Hide & Seek, O'Keefe's Passage Download via BitTorrent |
Yap Day 05
Thu 25 Nov 2010
Today we are after Mantas. We do two dives in Mil Channel where the Manta cleaning stations are. Alas, two very nice dives but no Mantas. At the very photgenic Manta Pass, we see an isolated coral head teeming with Glassfish and at least seven Leaffish dining on them. Dive sites: Mil Channel North, Mil Channel South Download via BitTorrent |
Yap Day 06
Fri 26 Nov 2010
Our last day of Micronesian diving. We go to the head of Mil Channel (i.e. Yap Corner) hoping to see Mantas coming or going to the cleaning station, but in case we do not, Yap Corner has its own charm. No Mantas, but spectacular terrain. We go back to Slow & Easy because of the great dive there perviously and this time spend 90 minutes with a pair of mating Octopuses (Octopi or Octopodes). We end the trip with a dusk dive on Rainbow reef and watch the magnificent Mandarin Fish do its daily mating ritual. Dive sites: Yap Corner, Slow and Easy, Rainbow Reef (Mandarin Mating Dive) Download via BitTorrent |
Yap Day 07
Sat 27 Nov 2010
On our last day in Yap, we start with a driving tour around Yap. Each village is responsible for the maintenance of public spaces, resulting in beautifully manicured roadside verges. The island is laced with a series of paths through the jungle connecting the important local civic centers of each town, centuries old. Most of the stone money banks are along these traditional paths. We get guided down one such path to Kadai Village, a sort of Yapese "living village" for tourists to see traditional crafts and dance performances. Even though the Yap reefs have been devastated by the two recent typhoons, Yap above water remains the gem that we remember from previous visits. Download via BitTorrent |
Sweet Octopi Love
Fri 26 Nov 2010
First as a lame attempt to go viral on Youtube (complete with Barry White). This was one Amazing dive with Yap divers at the "Slow and Easy" dive site. We spent 90 minutes with this pair of mating octopi. Dive site: Download via BitTorrent |
